Appendix: Identifying Websites “used to conduct University business”

The following items will be considered when trying to identify websites that are used to conduct university business for purposes of HWCOE IT Admin Process IT-4-1-5: Website Hosting Requirements:

  • Presence of UF class-related content (i.e. syllabi, assignments, reading materials, etc).
  • Presence of UF and/or HWCOE wordmark, branding, or theme.
  • Primary location of content related to a UF research lab or other organization.

Websites that are part of embedded systems such as printers, copiers, environmental monitors, digital signage systems, etc which should otherwise be secured using best practices for such devices (changing default passwords, usage of private IP, etc) are not in scope for this IT admin process. Whereas UFIT hosting is not required, these types of systems, including their embedded website, are still subject to UF’s risk management policy.
