Can I restore a deleted or corrupted file?

Absolutely YES!!! (It does, however, depend on the file having been backed up by regular, automatic processes. As a result, you may not be able to restore the most recent version of a file or a newly created file.) If the file(s) or folder(s) are stored on a network drive you can usually recover them easily using a feature called Previous Versions. Previous versions exposes to you a behind-the-scenes server feature called Shadow Copies which takes snapshots of the network drives at regular intervals to create a backup.

Shadow copies are configured for most Engineering IT Support managed network drives as follows:

  • Shadow copies are created once a day during non-business hours
  • At least 30 days of shadow copies will be maintained
