To stop email from auto-opening in the sidebar pane, go to the Microsoft Edge sidebar settings page by either selecting the Settings icon (a gear) on the bottom of the sidebar or by clicking the ‘…’ menu from the Microsoft Edge menus and choosing Settings > Sidebar.

From the sidebar settings page, select “Outlook” in the App and notification settings section. Toggle the Automatically open Outlook email context in the side pane to turn off this feature.
